Summer fun and summer scare!

I have always LOVED swimming! It is one of my favorite things about summer. Fortunately my kids love to swim too! Today we were at a friends pool and David was just going CRAZY! He loved the water. He was really funny about it. I put Becca's floats on him and he loved the freedom (although I was always right there!).

Sarah love diving in and swimming around. It is too bad she doesn't want to do swim team, she would be GREAT! Maybe when she is older.

Anyway, the scare part...Becca was taking off her friends swim suit/life vest and it got tangled around her ankle. I heard a splash and I looked and saw that she had fallen in the water. I looked and waited for her to pop back up...she never did. I waved to my friends neighbor (who is deaf) to come grab David and I dove into the water and went right under her and put her onto the side of the pool. She didn't take any water in, but BOY was it SCARY! She was a little shaken up but I don't think it will hold her back from swimming. I was a life guard when I was younger and fortunately never really had to save anyone (a few kids that slipped from their tube). When you are the mom it is a lot more scary!

I hope that eventually she will be more comfortable around water as I would LOVE to have a pool in my back yard someday!

random picture of Becca

I am not sure how to place the pictures once I put them in. Sarah and Becca love to take pictures of eachother. Here are some funny ones.

Sarah's graduation

Well Sarah has oficially graduated from kindergarten. My friend (Nicole) said in her blog that she got a little emotional at Michael's preschool graduation...well honey I down right cried when I hugged the teacher.

I think that I realized how quickly the time is passing and how big my kids are getting. Her teacher did something REALLY cool for the kids. She asked all the kids to write things they liked about eachother and then made a pillowcase for them with the nice things ironed on (along with pictures throughout the year). It was such an incredible gift. Miss Allen was a great teacher,
I hope that next year will be just as good!

blech

This morning I woke up (at 6 since that is David's new wake up time!) and everything was fine until breakfast and that just didn't sit well at all. Sure enough I have the flu and Aaron is in Boston. It was coming out both ends and I let the kids watch TV and play computer all day. Fortunately David too a 3 hour nap! I hope we are all well in the morning and the bug passed!

mini triathlon

My friend Ruth just did a mine triathlon (15 mile bike, 500 meters swim, 3 mile run). I thought I would LOVE to do it. I have wanted to do it for a long time. So this week I have been motivated to start training because I would like to do it next year (Memorial Day). Monday I started out running. After a mile I started really wheezing and having a hard time...I am REALLY out of shape. It is going to take a little while before I am ready. As the week went by it was a little easier to run so I don't think it will be that hard (although it will be after the bike and the swim...) then today I went for a little bike ride and was DYING! It was so hard going up the hills. I really am going to have to train for this one.

I saw Ruth tonight at a picnic and she said she might do one in August...I don't know if I will be ready quite then, but it might be worth a try. We will see.

funny picture

I thought this was a great shot of David. We actually had to change the front screen because he kept crushing his face against it!

mean girls

I was SO heartbroken today. Sarah came home today really sad and I asked her what was the matter and she didn't want to talk for a long time. I asked her again and again until she was ready to talk. Then she said that Sydney and Emily didn't want to play with her in gym class today. sigh. I am not there to protect her any longer. she is so sensitive and was just crushed when her best friend didn't want to play with her. I know there will be plenty more of these but this was the first time that someone at school has made her this sad. They really aren't mean girls and I know that there will be harder times than this but I just felt really sad for Sarah. she is not that social so the friends that she does have I want to be nice to her...life goes on though.
