New Calling
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that I have a new calling. I am the second councilor in Young Women. DeAnn and Lauren I know you are laughing at me right now so give me some great ideas. I have NO idea what I am doing and I have 14 girls (but 2 advisers). I am expecting some great comments or at least good websites.
Oh, Halloween
Okay. I think I said enough about how I dislike Halloween so I won't even go there. But, for the simplicity of it all I am going to just use their coats (see the Canyon photo) and work with it. For Becca she is going to be Cookie Monster and then David will be Mr Incredible (thanks Aline and Melissa for the coats). We have this duct that we will try to convert into a robot costume for Sarah. Am I cheap, YES, do I like Halloween, NO so am I really just letting my kids enjoy Halloween without me paying for it...YES. I told my sister my plan and she said that she had some costumes I could use. She likes Halloween. My mom always made Halloween fun. I think PA ruined me. I would drive by a house that was all decked out as a grave yard full of disgusting things. Maybe this year will be better and I will be on a road back to liking Halloween.

Beccaisms
Last night before going to bed Becca told me,
Mom, while I am sleeping can you put a stack of undies in my drawer, I am getting a little low.
She changes her panties every time she changes her clothes. Fortunately for her I was folding laundry last night.
Today after school she told me,
Mom, I can bring my "Me Sack" on Monday. It is alright.
Oh man. I totally spaced a project that she was supposed to bring in today. Fortunately this happened to her and not Sarah.

For those of you who don't read comments
My sister posted a comment to my chocolate question and here was her answer.
It's only in a few of their products and it's already happened. The kissables, the watchamacalit bars, milk duds, mr. goodbar, and krackle.
For those of you who are new to the blog world, if you click on "already happened" link it will bring you to the msnbc article.
AH! I really feel cheated. I knew that the Mr. Goodbar (my FAVORITE miniature candy bar) tasted a little funny. How many times have I ridden the chocolate world ride and NO WHERE do they add vegetable oil!!!

The Bizarre Body
Today I was reading a book to David and found it very interesting. Here are some tidbits that I gleaned.
* The tongue is one of the strongest muscles in the body. Everyone has a unique tongue print.
* If you lose sight in one eye, you lose only one-fifth of your vision. Your other eye will make up for some of the lost sight.
* A beard could grow over 30 feet over a life time
* There are more heart attacks on Monday than any other day of the week.
* Babies are born with 300 bones. Adults have 206. As you grow, some bones grow together.
* In a lifetime, a person produces enough spit to fill two swimming pools.
* hair is as strong as aluminum. A rope of hair could lift a car.
* Thighbones are stronger than concrete.
* Most house dust is made of dead skin cells.
* Your body has over 60,000 miles of blood vessels. This is enough to circle the earth 2 times.

Prego pictures
Today we went to the park with a few friends. It was a new park and we found sheep to feed and a path that went by a little creek which was fun. Here is a picture of me (keep in mind that Becca took it so it is from the vantage point of a 5 year old.) I did notice that my shirt is a wee bit tight. I guess it takes a picture to get the picture that I really shouldn't be wearing real clothes still.

Forgotten tidbit
The other day Becca came in and said she was all wet. I looked and sure enough she had wet herself. I said in a shocked tone, "What!?!" since she has only wet her pants 2 other times. She said I was laughing so hard I just couldn't hold it in. I just couldn't be mad at that. I forgot to ask her what was so funny though.

random tidbits
David has been into calling Sarah Resarah and Dad Redad because we call Becca Rebecca. Too funny.
The other day I was driving and David saw a big brick building and he said, "Chocolate World! Chocolate World!" I had to tell him we were no longer in PA and couldn't go to Chocolate World. He was bummed. So my sister told me that Hershey was going to switch out the cocoa butter with vegetable oil. Has anyone heard anything like that?
We all think the baby is a boy. We shall see in a few weeks.
David is convinced that he has a baby in his tummy too.

New mom
Today I was baking a peach pie when David asked
D: Can I play at Maddie's?
Me: No, she is at school.
D: Where is Becca?
Me: School.
D: Where is Sarah?
Me: School.
D: Can I play at Nate's?
Me: No, he is taking a nap.
D: Can I play with Nate's mom?
Me: HAHAHA.
Poor David. I largely ignored him while he "helped" me make the pie. I haven't made a pie for about 7 years, and have never made a peach pie, needless to say it was good. The crust on the bottom was a little soggy. My sister said next time either brush the bottom with egg white or put instant tapioca in the filling. Next time.
Also I made these yummy buns. Thanks for the tip Celia. They were filling and oh so delicious.
I did take a picture of the pie and of all the peaches I have canned (14 jars plus I will do 7 more tonight). It finally feels like fall.

Up the canyon
Last Saturday we went up American Fork Canyon and had a BLAST! It is about 15 minutes from our house and viola we are in the woods by a stream. On Saturday we packed a lunch and went exploring a bit. Tonight we went up for Family Home Evening and my sister Amanda and her family came too. We had a blast! We enjoyed the most fun parts of camping without the actual camp part (the fire and marshmallows!) My brother-in-law took some awesome pictures so I will post them when he sends them to me!

Me through the years
I saw this on one of my friends blogs. I thought it was funny. I always wanted to know what I would look like with a fro and bleach blonde hair. The one second from the bottom 1990 I swear I have a picture JUST LIKE IT. The fro was 78 a year after I was born. The last was 1996 the actual year I graduated.

September 11th
Need I say more? This was probably the worst day of my life. I know that my story doesn't even compare to most (especially my brother), but I thought I would blog it for history sake.
Early in the morning my friend Erin called and said that I had to turn on the tv. I turned it on to see a plane go into the world trade center. It was the worst feeling ever. I knew that my brother's kids went to school right by the world trade center and was immediately worried about their safety. I then called my mom and asked her if she had heard anything from my brother. She said she hadn't (although I think there was a message on her machine that she later heard) and then I told her what had happened. Brian actually heard the first plane and saw the second plane go into the world trade center. Fortunately they were all together that morning (something that really shouldn't have happened).
Meanwhile there was talk about another plane hitting the pentagon. We had just recently moved west of DC, but we had lived just south or the Pentagon prior to 9-11. DC had been evacuated and I hadn't heard from Aaron. He didn't have a cell phone but I did get a feeling that everything would be okay. He ended up walking about 7 miles that day until he got to a train station that was operating. He called me from a pay phone and told me not to come and get him because traffic was a mess. I eventually had to turn off the TV because I couldn't handle all the stories of last cell phone calls etc. What a sad, sad day.
Now today when we think of war and why we are in this war I don't think that we realized the magnitude of it. I think we were all hurting and in some way wanting to defend those who were killed that day. One of my good friends brother was killed that day. His wife was expecting their 3rd child. Stories like that just make you wonder why bad people even exist. It makes you look forward to the day when the wicked will be destroyed and Christ will reign on the Earth.

Funny me
Okay so after I discovered that the shoes were two right feet, I put them on for Sarah and asked how they looked. She paused and said "a little weird." They are those lace looking slipper shoes. I thought maybe, just maybe I could get away with wearing them. Now I know, not so!

two right feet
So I was at Wal-Mart...groan...really I don't know why I keep going back...and I needed some black shoes for church. While I was looking I saw these really cute shoes for $3. I tried one on and threw them in. when I got home I put them on and realized they were both RIGHT FEET. Really, why do I keep going back??

Back on the potty train
Well, David never grasped the concept of going back to diapers. He actually is doing okay. He is doing much better than last week. Here he is getting his own potty treats. I was doing something else and forgot to get his treat and so he dragged a chair over and got about 20 mnm's before I could tell him that he got his reward.
Another funny boy thing. Aaron apparently taught him how to poke through the pocket to go potty...David TRIED and TRIED to no avail. He just gave up. I thought it was too funny (sorry to be so graphic!)

Things I have learned this week
1. When teaching a little boy to use the potty standing up, ALWAYS have a container of Clorox wipes handy.
2. When replacing windows, ALWAYS have a second opinion.
3. Your house has more life when you plant pretty plants.
4. David loves playing with the girls, and when they are gone he is just stuck with me. I forgot how much I did with Sarah.
5. An hour of sleep helps just as much as an hour of exercise.
