Well it happened. David swallowed a quarter. I am not one of those paranoid moms that freak out if their child has something in their mouth...oh he will never swallow it...oh well today he did! I was down stairs and he was upstairs when I heard him choking. I ran upstairs and started banging on his back. He coughed and coughed and then I thought that he finally swallowed it because he stopped coughing. Then he threw up. Then he did it again and again. I thought that maybe it irritated him or something. I thought that it would just pass but as the day went on. At this point Sarah wanted to go to swim lessons...so did I say "your brother is throwing up and we can't" nope. I said well it looks like he has stopped throwing up lets go. While we were at the park waiting for Sarah's lesson to be over (we can't go in and watch) David spit up again twice and I am sure other mom's looked at me thinking what kind of horrible mom would bring her sick kid to the park.
I called the doctor and at first the nurse said to come in...about 5 minutes later she said to go to the ER. BLAH the ER! So away we went. Fortunately Aaron was just doing the orientation for the first years so he was able to meet me at the hospital. All the doctors came in and saw him. David was really scared and he cried but other than that he would just gag now and then.
They had to take him to the OR and put him under and then remove it. I think if Aaron wouldn't have been there I would have cried as the nurse took my baby to the OR. Aaron didn't really seem bothered by it so I took on that attitude.
Here is his x-ray. Man we are lucky to live in a day where this didn't kill him! Once it was removed he was such a happy kid. He drank and ate like mad because he was starving.
Hopefully we will not have any more trips to the ER! But with this kid we will see!
