Four eyes

The other day when we went to the doctor Becca failed the eye exam. Sure enough I took her to see Aaron this morning and she needs glasses. She was a real trouper about it, but I hope when the novelty wears off she will be okay with her glasses. I will post pictures when she gets her new glasses.

Another thing about Becca...every morning when she gets into bed with me she tells me how many days until the baby will come out. I don't know who is more excited me or her.

The Prince

Today Becca was playing with a friend and they took turns dancing with "the prince" at the ball. I thought it was just too cute!

My $55 mistake

Tuesday I wanted to take the kids to story time after I dropped off the car pool kids at school so I was busy getting the books together, shoes on, hair done, backpacks together etc. Finally it was 9 and I was pushing being late so I hurried the kids to the car with my two big book bags that I was going to put in the trunk. I went to put the books in and the door was LOCKED! When do I ever lock the car, especially in the garage. I am sure a child pushed the lock button on the remote...anyway. I went and unlocked the car, buckled in David and went to help Sarah find something she needed for school all with the pressing feeling that three other kids needed to be picked up and on time for school. We found whatever it was Sarah was looking for and hopped in the car and went to pick up the other kids. As I was driving back down our street I noticed my purse and the two book bags at the end of the driveway. Yep, I must have dragged them to the street. The bags were thrashed. I went to the library and turned them in. The next day I received a pleasant e-mail from the library saying that I had turned in 3 damaged books and it would be $55 to replace them. I knew that there was one that FOR SURE was damaged, but I wondered about the other ones. Here are some pictures of my $55 mistake.

I thought they were really picky about the bug and 123 book, the hole book well that was damaged. The other ones had crushed corners. Oh well. we have 3 new lovely books and it could have been A LOT worse!

Baby oh baby...so puffy!

Yesterday Sarah took a picture of me (with 12 more days to go...) and I am so puffy. I guess that will just make it that much better in 6 months when I look so much less puffy!

I now have the crib, pack-n-play, car seat/stroller, LOTS of clothes (from my sister and Christine) so now all I really need is diapers etc. Almost there!

Painting toenails

Who thought painting toenails could be so hard and awkward! Tonight I was SICK of seeing my yellow disgusting toenails so I thought I would paint them. I sit down in my bathroom and attempt to take of the remaining polish (you know from like 3 months ago!) and it was awkward! But, I couldn't let it go on. My feet are probably my least favorite body part. I think they are fat and UGLY. I hate my toenails especially because they have fungus. about 3 years ago I went to the doctor to see if I could get rid of the fungus, but the medication they had was NOT covered by my insurance because it was cosmetic. It would cost about 1500 a month and I had to be on the medication for 4 months. I also had to take monthly blood tests to make sure my liver was still functioning well. Uh, no thanks. I will take my yucky, yellow nails and paint them. That is why I was painting my nails. I went swimming this morning and to the doctor tomorrow so I thought it is about time. I look forward to the time when I can actually paint my nails without it being SO awkward!

Dad's alligator story

Sarah needed to tell a story for school and I told her that Grandpa had a great story about an alligator. She called Grandpa and this is what he sent her.

Fifty years ago when I was 15, I went to spend the summer with my father, Paul Waterman Jr.

We had bay-front property on Tampa Bay in Florida. We had dug a canal that went to the bay. We put a temporary dam up to build the canal and put dirt on one side to build houses. On the other side of the dam was pure natural, creepy, swamp jungle.

My dad told me to be very careful because of water moccasin snakes when I went swimming in the canal, so I always went swimming with our three cocker spaniel dogs who were named: Charlie, John L. Sullivan, and Lindy. On hot days our dogs would go swimming in the canal without me.

One afternoon Charlie did not come home, which was very unusual. I thought maybe he had gone up to the nearest highway and something had happened, so I went to check. Nothing. The next day I went swimming with the two dogs, as usual looking for snakes, but everything went okay.

That afternoon John L. came home bleeding and limping and hurting very much. We had no choice but to put him to sleep. My Dad thought it might be an alligator. Alligators love to eat dogs. They have been known to climb eight-foot high chain link fences to get to a dog.

We drove the car back to the dam looking for tracks all along the way. At the dam we found alligator footprints and the tail prints both going and coming. My dad got a big metal stake and welded a chain on it and welded a big grouper hook on the end of the chain. He pounded the stake in right where the tracks were and put a beef heart on the hook.

The next morning when we went to check the hook, sure enough we had caught an alligator. He had swallowed the bait and hook and a lot of the chain and was still alive. My dad got a 22 rifle and shot and killed it. We hung it up and took pictures with us standing beside it. Later that day we cut it open to see if the dog collar was in the alligator and, yes it was.

It measured over 11 feet. We sent the story and the picture into the Tampa newspaper and they printed it. They also added that it was, at that time, the largest alligator caught and killed in the city limits of Tampa, Florida.

We're goin to the zoo, zoo, zoo

This session of story time the stories are all about going to the zoo. They gave out free children's tickets to the zoo so we went yesterday. We really had a great time. The kids didn't complain about walking or the cold or anything! It was great. David's favorite was the crocodiles. Sarah's was the penguins. Becca's was the giraffe and small animal house. Man I am going to miss the freedom of having all the kids taking care of themselves.

Funny

I will confess, after my last experience with my anesthesiologist I am a little worried about my delivery. I don't want to be knocked out (like this guy, haha).

My little saver

Sarah brought home a paper today that said, "If $100 fell from the sky I would buy a turtle or a frog and put the rest in my piggy bank."

I love it!

FHE at Classic Fun Center

Tonight we went to the classic fun center in Sandy for family home evening and we had a blast. We went on the inflatable toys and I even sneaked up and down a slide a few times (receiving a - you are 8 months pregnant what do you think you are doing - look) it was fun all the same!

Oh what do you do on a rainy day?

Sarah saw this craft in family fun and wanted to do them. They were actually really fun and the girls LOVED the little sewing. They made one for themselves and then one for their teachers for valentines day. What teacher wouldn't want one of these beauties!

Out with the mauve

Our bedroom was mauve. You know the kind of mauve that is grandma's favorite color...anyway it just doesn't go with our bed set. It has been driving me crazy for a long time and then I just said, I am going to paint that tomorrow. We had the color the previous owners used on the top (swiss coffee, really a light beige) so I had the paint and supplies, no excuses. It looks SO much better! I should have taken before and after pictures, but I just didn't. I am not done with the room (curtains, chair, plants...) so I will post a picture when I am (like a year or so). Also, this is just a color holder until I can think about what I want to do with the room. I also painted the toilet room, but the bathroom still remains mauve.
