The new spread

Here is the new and improved bed. Aaron liked this one much better. It looks real shiny in the picture, but in life it is not that shiny. There was a brown one, but I thought my room needed a little more color...

I love linnens and things. I have not really ever been in that store. I could spend a lot of money in there!

Beautiful Tribute

My sister Celia had this on her blog and I thought it was a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man. He really was a man with a vision. The picture at his wife's funeral just broke my heart. It really must have been a happy reunion! I don't know what else is linked with this video, but I don't think any of them are good! Just enjoy the main message.

Good Bye President Hinckley

This morning when Aaron called and told me President Hinckley passed away last night I was just sad. This was MY prophet. He has been the leader for as long as I can remember (acting President for President Benson when he was really sick).

He has a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed greatly! He has done so much for the church and we owe a lot to this wonderful man!

I was out vacuuming my car when one of my neighbors came up and said that she was sorry to see that the head of my church had passed away. I told her what a great man he was and that he has done so much for the world! I will miss President Hinckley VERY much, but I am sure there was a beautiful reunion with his wonderful wife. Goodbye President Hinckley.

Too Stong!

David is too strong! The other day I was upstairs folding laundry and I hear this mom, thump, thump, mom, thump thump. I looked down the stairs and saw that David had a whole gallon of juice that he was carting up the stairs because he was thirsty! Man I hope he doesn't figure out that he can pour it. Last night he pulled himself up on the bathroom counter and was playing in the medicine cabinet...I am glad I was there to pull him down.

Here it is!

So here is the final product. I loved the comforter set, but Aaron doesn't really like it...what do you think...I didn't put the bed skirt on or the shams in pillows, but you get the general idea. I am going to Ross, Marshall's and TJ Maxx tomorrow just to see if I like anything else better.
A big empty bookcase.
I think this one looks like it is smiling :)

My other palm is here.

Where have I been!

This week I have been remodeling my bedroom...it looks GREAT! I will post pictures as soon as I get a comforter. I got one yesterday at Target but Aaron is not quite sold on it. I am going to look today to see if I like any better. I painted my dresser, nightstand and bookcase black (thanks Lauren for the paint!) and changed the hardware. Really why didn't I do this 10 years ago! I guess I didn't really think about it and it worked and I always thought deep down that I would get a beautiful bedroom set. Needless to say this will just have to be my beautiful bedroom set for awhile.

randomness

Here is one of the palm trees (I also saw these at Home Depot for $10).

And here is my gold chandelier. Really I never would have thought that anything was wrong with it.

note to self

Never buy Amana. We have only had this washing machine for 2.5 years and it dies! Really, a washing machine should last much longer. The repair guy said that he would just replace it ( I really think he didn't want to fix it and would get the same money if we just replaced it...needless to say we just replaced it!)

Purging

So I have been looking through everything we own and getting rid of A LOT of things. Last time I gave some things to a friend Sarah said, "Mom where are all my toys going?" I felt a little bad, but seriously it has felt GREAT getting rid of a lot of stuff! I have a garbage bag, 5 grocery bags and a box ready to go to Salvation Army...and this is only the BEGINNING!

My friend (who is an interior decorator) was over the other day and I asked her what I should do to spruce up the house...she looked around and got a sheepish grin on and said, "where should I begin" She started by choosing some colors for paint (and said she would help me with carpet selection). she said that was the bare minimum for the house and de-clutering. She said extra perks would be changing all the light covers adding a few plants (2 huge palm trees which I bought at Giant for $12 really give life to the room!) adding a few rugs and changing the light fixtures. She said that my gold chandelier should be spray painted black...interesting. Also she said that the wood trim (banister and rails) could be painted white...interesting. I didn't know that gold was out and black and silver was in. I will be hard pressed to get the essentials done, but we will see how it goes. I already took down the curtain rods and have a plant, but I will take a before and after pictures and show you the final result.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DAVID!

Today is David's birthday. Here is his life.

He has been a little sick, hence the slober and snot. He loves anything associated with boys.
Here we are with his truck cake.

Dance, Dance Baby

When David was only a month old we did this little song.

(after watching it now I hope it was not cruelty to babies...I guess he is the third child!)

Now that he is 2, he likes to climb on the table and sing dan dan baby - I couldn't find a better one and Becca had to jump right in :)

I'm IN

So I just registered online for the mini triathlon. To check it out the website is gotthenerve.org. Man I don't know if I really have the nerve, but I'm in. WAHOO. We will see how it goes!

BINGO

BINGO...I just don't get the appeal! We went tonight with Sarah to her school for bingo night. BORING. Really. I don't see how people could think this is fun. I don't see how anyone could waste so much time playing bingo. Maybe I am just bitter that I didn't win...hum...

you are one big boy

The other day Becca and David were running around and they collided. Becca hopped up but David was still crying. I told Becca to help David up. She reached around his middle and tried to pick him up. After three attempts she was successful, but as she came up she was holding her back and said, "Oh, my back." Then looking and pointing at David she said, " you are one big boy." I just had to laugh. He is only about 3 lbs away from over taking her in the weight category...it won't be long :)

A little emotional!

So this afternoon I was conducting Relief Society and when I got to the front I just got really emotional. It hit me that I would have to say goodbye to these awesome people! I love change, but I hate saying goodbye. As I was crying a good friend came up and gave me a big hug and I said oh man I still have 6 months, we still have 6 good months left!

Bargin hunter

I don't know why but I just can't pass a bargain! I went into Target this morning for one thing and realized that their Christmas stuff was 90% off. It was the first day and it was first thing in the morning. I couldn't believe all the things that were selling for mere pennies. Needless to say I spent about $15 on things for next year. Hey if we are hauling our things a few more Christmas things won't hurt. (when you think about it I got about $150 worth of merchandise.)

I'm not your servant!

I was just starting a load of laundry and asked Becca if she could get the laundry from her room. She looked at me and said, "I'm not your servant." I couldn't help but crack up. I kept sorting my laundry and then I started the washer and said I can only wash the laundry if I have it in my pile. She immediately ran and got her laundry.

phrase of the day

"That's just nonsense"

Today while we were having reading lessons Becca was reading her story the girl wanted a man to pet a pig and he said he would pet a duck. When she read that she looked at me and said "that's just nonsense" I asked her why and she said he wouldn't pet a rubber duck. haha. She also said that the girl shouldn't pet the pig because he might be muddy. They have to stretch to make stories out of words they can read.

Yesterday her phrase was "I'm puzzled" she kept confusing her b's with d's. too cute.

I forgot to say that for Christmas Aaron printed out all of my blogs and put them in a binder. It was 83 pages!

Becca and Sarah, goodnight!

The other night, I passed by the girl's room as they were falling asleep. Sarah was under her covers, snoring loudly and obviously pretending she was asleep. Becca called out, "Dad, I can't fall asleep because Sarah keeps honking!"

Kids are so funny if you really listen to them.
Here's another picture from Christmas in California.
