Need I say more? This was probably the worst day of my life. I know that my story doesn't even compare to most (especially my brother), but I thought I would blog it for history sake.
Early in the morning my friend Erin called and said that I had to turn on the tv. I turned it on to see a plane go into the world trade center. It was the worst feeling ever. I knew that my brother's kids went to school right by the world trade center and was immediately worried about their safety. I then called my mom and asked her if she had heard anything from my brother. She said she hadn't (although I think there was a message on her machine that she later heard) and then I told her what had happened. Brian actually heard the first plane and saw the second plane go into the world trade center. Fortunately they were all together that morning (something that really shouldn't have happened).
Meanwhile there was talk about another plane hitting the pentagon. We had just recently moved west of DC, but we had lived just south or the Pentagon prior to 9-11. DC had been evacuated and I hadn't heard from Aaron. He didn't have a cell phone but I did get a feeling that everything would be okay. He ended up walking about 7 miles that day until he got to a train station that was operating. He called me from a pay phone and told me not to come and get him because traffic was a mess. I eventually had to turn off the TV because I couldn't handle all the stories of last cell phone calls etc. What a sad, sad day.
Now today when we think of war and why we are in this war I don't think that we realized the magnitude of it. I think we were all hurting and in some way wanting to defend those who were killed that day. One of my good friends brother was killed that day. His wife was expecting their 3rd child. Stories like that just make you wonder why bad people even exist. It makes you look forward to the day when the wicked will be destroyed and Christ will reign on the Earth.

Scariest day of my life too. I was so glad to hear when Aaron finally arrived home. Bryan actually saw the first plane go in, thought it was an accident, and then was inside when he heard the second plane go in. Then everyone knew for sure that they were under attack. Now the scary thing for them was wondering if there would be bombs dropped on the city. At one point he emailed us and then there was no communication for a long time. They had left his office and did not tell us.
We have a friend my Dad's age who was a bomber in WWII. He used to pray that the bomb sirens would go off in time for all people to get to safety. Compare that to the Arab men dancing in the streets as thousands of people were smashed or burned to death by the building going down. You are right. Sheer wickedness.
The good thing is that thousands of people showed forth incredible love to strangers that day. I believe it changed the hearts of many. Mom
It was the scariest day!...Dominique was a baby and we were watching the tv when the 2nd plane crash...I couldn't believe it!...It was a civil war in my country when I was a little girl and I still remember all the bombs and soldiers going around our house. The gun machines shooting sounds in the night...so when on tv. they said that we were under attacked...I totally freak out!.
Last noight I was watching a docummentary about sept.11 and the same feelings came back. Evil is real!. I feel really bless to have a prophet who guide us,because I remember that just when he talked to the church I could feel peace in my heart.
I was just thinking about how crazy that day was. I am so glad that we weather all the storms, inlcuding the sniper! We have all come a long way.
