Okay all you out there - does anyone have a good book for disciplining a 3 year old?? I think I must have blocked out all the tantrums and naughty things my other kids have done. This past week David has flushed 5 rolls of toilet paper down the toilet! (after he goes poop) I have tried talking REALLY STERNLY to him and then even sending him to time out, and he always says he won't do it again and he seems to be getting it, but then the next day he does it again! It is really getting to the maddening stage and yesterday he flooded the bathroom. IDEAS???
This morning when I heard him lock the door (a sign that he is going poop) I broke in and took the toilet paper. He got really mad and then I tried to talk to him and tell him that he couldn't flush the toilet paper down the toilet. I let him go and then brought some in and showed him how much he needed to use and what to do with it (other than put it in the toilet). We will see if that will get to his brain.

I think its a boy thing. Darren was doing the same thing over the summer and one day he just stopped. I tried everything to get him to stop. But nothing seemed to work. I was glad when that stage was over. You might have to just wait it out. (Not always fun)
Hey Julie , Seriously, when you find out let me know!!! I've been at my wits end with Bella. She is soooooo stubborn, and COMPLETELY ignores me.
I'm a little cheap, but if you're desperate enough, buy some of those puppy paw print TP ... it tells them exactly how much to take... Just a thought.
I think it's a boy thing. Zach had a hard time with that and was constantly clogging the toilet with way too much toilet paper, and we were going through rolls like crazy. I finally figured out that he never really felt like his bum was clean enough, so he kept going. I bought him the flushable wet wipes and that really helped cut down on the tp because it made him feel cleaner or something. We still have to talk about doing multiple flushes sometimes. Good luck!
OH THE JOYS OF POTTY TIME!! My kids went through all those tough stages, too! You are not alone!! Unfortunately, we went to through the "maddening" stages with both Mariah and Amber. Cody just WON'T wipe his own bum--still! He doesn't like that part--enough to beg and beg until Hunter or I come and help him out. So--I can empathize with the "training issues." GOOD LUCK!! Jules
