Now that I am a mom of three I have discovered that I have had a change of pace in many areas of my life.
Take meal time...I am hurrying to finish the meal because I usually have a ravenous David at my heals and then by the time I am half way through the preparation I usually give up and put David in his high chair and give him something to stave him off...well by the time I finish everything and sit down to eat he is done and is screaming to get out...and there are numerous requests for water, food to be cut up, more of this, a lot of distractions. When I finally sit I feel like I have to scarf down the food before someone makes a request. I have to consciously make myself eat slower.
The other night I was walking out of a resident's spouses meeting and I was with a girl who only has a newborn. Well as we were walking out to the car she was walking REALLY fast. she was probably only 5'2" but man I felt like I was running. I realized it is because I have gotten used to the baby step pace. I really need to just get out and walk without little feet with me.
Shower time...I used to love taking long showers. Now I have to shave both legs as quickly as I can or I know that someone will be crying when I get out. Now that David is getting older it is a little easier to ignore his crys, but it shower time is a lot quicker.

Maybe she was a speed walker...
The whole dinner timing thing seems like it would be difficult! Could you give him a little snack while you're making dinner? or would he not eat his dinner if you did?
he will eat whenever I give him food (although he usually prefers snacks :)
Okay how funny that you put the two of those together- I never thought about it that way before. But I have found that I eat more of my meals standing up than sitting down. And the slower walking- well some of that equals out between the sprinting down/ up stairs to 'find out what that loud crash' was doesn't it?
the dinner sounded SO familiar. having a very functional island in my kitchen has made a world of difference when it comes to feeding my kids and cleaning up. also, have you discovered the pizza slicer? i cut up EVERYTHING with it and it is a snap. another trick i learned is to set my babies in the tub while i shower as soon as they can sit up. they have all loved it, and i still manage to take my 20 minute showers everyday that i have always been famous for. there are some things in life i'm just not willing to give up, even as a busy mom.
20 minute showers! Holy smokes!!
I generally take 5 minute showers. Maybe it's because I like to be ready (showered, dressed, hair done) in 30 min. from when I start.
I hate spending time on getting ready.
