I say go with something slightly darker but still neutral-a tan maybe? Oh and did you see I gave you an award for your blog? you'll have to go back a couple posts to see it.
Off whites. Not necessarily creams or tans. But light colors (greens, blues, etc.) that are almost white, but not quite. I do love the spring green in Dean's room and it's a little darker. The nice thing about neutrals is that you can have any color of furniture and it won't clash. But if you have neutral furniture, it's fun to put color up on the wall.
My family never had white walls, lots of different colors. So I go crazy living in a white house (as I am doing right now since we are renting) So my vote is the tan colors.
I love bold colors but seeing as you are going to try selling it soon-thats why I said neutral. Oh and the post with your award is called "I feel so loved" because some one gave it to me and then I passed it on to you. Its toward the end of Nov.
deep tan. but look at your furniture and go from there. i can't remember if your couches are more teal or hunter. hunter would look awesome with tan. teal might look better with white or a cooler color.
I go crazy with white walls. It's way to bland and washed-out for me. I have a fantastic Ralph Lauren paint color called Sisal (you can find the chip at Home Depot) in most of my downstairs (except the red dining room and my LR is one shade lighter--it's a RL color, too). We got it matched at Sherwin Williams and I LOVE it. It's a tan/sand with slightly greenish undertones. It goes with everything and I get lots of compliments on it. However, the paint job is definitely home grown! Don't look too close!!

Ooooh, go bold! I love reallllly bold colors. Color adds such personality and warmth! Hope you don't mind me commenting. We're in Nicole's ward. :P
Look in the Pottery Barn catalog for ideas. They even give you the exact paint colors from Benjamin Moore.

neutral but darker than white. :) Not that I have any experience yet as we're still renting, but paint makes it cozy.
I think this advice is for your new house in Utah, right? Then I vote sand with white trim and ceilings and doors.
Trying to sell? Maybe an off-white so they can paint over it whatever they want. the mom
