YIPPEE

We sold our first house! Yesterday we went and signed a few papers and got a nice check (we have never had this much money in the bank...too bad it will be gone in a few months). Her realtor said we should take that check and go to the race trace, we went to Rita's (we got custard/ice) to celebrate instead.

Today I was going through boxes trying to weed things out and realized that a lot of it Aaron is going to have to go through. I thought it was because I was less sentimental, but I am sure my mom has a lot of things at her house waiting for me to discover. I was hoping to just be able to fit it in our cars, but I do think we will get a small trailer.

To plug or not to plug? Aaron and I have both been really leery of plugging in our kids...tv/video games... thinking that they were going to miss out on the whole experience of the country blah blah blah. Well...I think I have talked him into getting a portable DVD player...does anyone know a good brand (i heard the dual ones are great) or the best place to get it? do they come with the car kit, or do you buy that seperate?

My sister and I have the dual one from Emmerson. I've had it for two almost 3 years and she has had hers for almost 4. Neither one of us ever had any problems. The only thing that stinks is that Isabella likes to get her foot tangled in the cables. Other than that I would say BUY ONE FOR SURE!!! And don't bother with the single ones... They'll just fight more.

So fun to find your blog. Where are you moving to? It will be so fun to catch up with you in July. Your kids are growing up. It's amazing, isn't it?

Buy one FOR SURE, is my humble opinion. ;) We have one we bought nearly 4 1/2 years ago when they cost an arm and leg (b/c we drove across the country to Nashville), and a dual one from Target at the got in January. That one was on sale for about $200 and works great, but you can't us it as a TV. Oh, we do have another little portable one (like a table top one) that was on sale for $99. When I bought it the guy told me that they all have a "shelf life" of about six months! What?! My last one lasted 3 1/2 years (it was from Costco) and took much abuse. Good luck. I don't know if brand matters that much anymore. Our 11-year-old 19" Magnavox TV is still up and running, while our 32" Panasonic HDTV (that we saved forever for) just died. Supposedly Panasonic was the way to go. Doesn't prove it's longevity in the long haul, however!! :)

Happy long drive. Hope you survive and we'll see ya soon!

Congrats on the sale, and sorry I don't have any advice on gadgets! We don't own any and it'll be a year or two before we even start looking.

Love you!

I am with Jacqui. I would get one for sure. You can always pause it or unplug it for certain parts of the trip, but for the stressful, fighting, whining because it's hard to take naps in the car parts of the trip, DVD players are the only way to go, especially if you are going to BOTH be driving the whole way in separate cars (?!?). Good luck. Sorry no advice about the brand.
